THALAIVA, THALAIVA AND CAPSICUM USLI
I love chopping vegetables and am a bit OCD about how they are chopped, depending on the dish I am making. Like for avial, the chosen vegetables would be julienned, for a stew they would be diced and for a poriyal they would be chopped to another size. Given a chance I would chop and store in fridge, ready for the stove. This task also keeps me away from snacking...... Why am I discussing the above is that I am chopping vegetables for an usli (made of soaked tur dar, later ground with red chillies and hing. After heating some oil, add udad dal, curry leaves and said mixture and fry till it cooks and fries slightly). I would till quite recently use only cluster beans, till someone suggested beans and other vegetables. Today I am making it with capsicum and one lone carrot. It has turned out very well. Hot rice, a spot of ghee and mix it with usli and there is a guaranteed heavenly visitation. Along with tomato rasam. I am getting carried away with food as usual, but the chopping was made more rivetting while watching Por Thozil on SonyLiv. Wonderfully tense and made grippingly, it is slightly dark and typically these days most movies and serials are mostly night shots. Dark plus dark. And also psychological reason to become a murderer is a bit too pat. But Sharath Kumar with his cigarette looks goooood. Yesterday went to theatre to watch Jailer. Hail Anna. He is the ONE. There is no one else to beat him in style. And this time he has had the courage to show his age. Anna did not make an entry this time, but I was ready to whistle when he appeared on screen. I would like to believe that there was an awed silence. While Rajnikant holds his own, both as retired jailor and as an active one in flashback scene, there is no one in the history of filmy mankind who can throw a chutta like that and catch it with his mouth, even as he crosses his feet. Talk of multi tasking. He can do that with an unmatched aplomb. And of course the way he wears his goggles... I will soon sound like a bobby soxer and so I will stop here While the movie did stretch a tad, Anna held his own and Vinayakan, the villain with his honey brown lenses did a super job. The rest made me jealous because of their long tresses. The movie is a comedy with a dark edge and lot of flying tresses and of course an armoury.
