NAIDU IN JAIL AND BULGHERI MEALS
It gets chilly in the mornings. Akhila Ravi think athletic and they like to walk up and down, like today morning they went up into the old city, saw the valley in the daytime and expressed it in so many words, sent photos to their near and dear ones.... Sigh.....
I got up 6 times and finally decided to step out, only to realise that coffee/tea was only after one hour. So walked around near the pool, took a couple of deep breaths, felt cleansed and then hung around  waiting for bread. I tried the croissant today... It was flaky and delish. When they serve tea, they give you hot water in a dinky pot and a tea bag of your choice. I love to pour such tea.
Today evening we are going to look at some shops. I am bracing myself for the walk and to say no to buying anything. Meanwhile keeping in touch with mana Indian news feeling bad about Chandrababu Naidu. The jail time might work in his favour if the vengeance is taken care of legally.
It comes as a surprise to me that there are several cases still pending against the current CM of AP and he is out on bail. He was elected CM in this position even as his padayatra did earn him some brownie points. I don't think either party should really point fingers especially since the entire world knows that this scam has been foisted on Naidu.
But politics here is at a higher order and it depends on who is more cash rich. Also that the Central Government or the just woken up Supreme Court does not seem to think that a state government needs to bring in industries, give employment. For how long will doles help? You can call it by any other name, but it is still a vote trap. If the same works for the white card holders of the entire nation, for the students, the single women, etc then it is worth the while.
Anyways....
There is a museum in Volterra called the Etruscan Museum, with only faces. Bruno loves history and spent one and half hour taking individual photos of each sculpture which is a face. He has made a series out of it. He is tremendously patient in these matters and loves to spend time taking photos. In fact he has an Android phone which has five cameras. He takes some very good photos. So do Akhila and Ravi.
I click for my writing. M does not at all.
This is the link to Bruno's hard work from the museum https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=10161311743011484&id=813321483&mibextid=Nif5oz.
Later in the evening we drove to Ceccina region and to a beautiful small village of Bulgheri, (we probably recognise it as Bulgari, known for it's perfumes.) Before I go to dinner must tell you all that we crossed a small village called La California. The song by Eagles is still my anthem and it's haunting end of 'you can check out any time you like, but you can never leave', feels a lot like our lives. But it is the guitar at the end which is so truly in your memory mind. Anyway I belt it out all the time and can sing it better under the influence of.....
We also crossed a five miles long avenue with tall firs standing on either side. Very charming, with a mild sunny breeze blowing through the van windows
Ceccina is actually a beach town, where people come for copper tones. Small artisinal shops filled with colourful pastas, wine bottles, cheeses. And cheek by jowl cafes. The cafe culture is all too common in the summer. The rest of the time there is no sitting out or these guys simply pull their shutters down. Glad they have long summers. People make use of the sunlight/sunshine to their advantage and there is a lot of eating and drinking out. With children and pets. Both are very well behaved.
All of us being vegetarian helps. We had salads and the bread with olive oil, balsamic vinegar and salt. One of us ordered a red potato gnocchi and it was delish. I forgot to order for myself and shared with others... Was looking forward to a gelato, a small outlet we saw as we walked in. But they had shut by the time we finished dinner.
In lieu of which we returned to Volterra after a 45-minute hairpin drive and had rums and Coke. A fitting finale to any evening I must say.
