BABY AND BRO..... AGH!!!!!

I saw the much talked about movies, Baby and Bro. Both were immensely disappointing. Baby went on and on, going from bad to worse. And if I have to trust the common man, in this case my vahan chalak Raju, then 'girls merely use guys for their own benefit and then throw them away.' When he made the statement in Telugu, the word 'vadkodam' echoed in my mind.
Poor Vaishnavi, from basti living to pub living, who did not open the 30 gifts handed to her by Viraj (rich guy who finds her interesting) and hands them back intact.
But accusations fly high and for a first time appearance, the heroine performs well, nostrils flaring, managing to look good in a dress and a langa odhni. Where she gets money for all the gowns and dresses she wears for Viraj is not to be questioned. Her mother believes all her stories and her father is accepting of her drunken shenanigans.
In this whole process of Vaishnavi growing up, her engineering seat and education takes a back seat and people are wondering 'aameki last lo, aa pelli avasrama? '.
While she at least has a role whère she has to necessarily act, both the guys have pathetic roles of being strait jacketed. Guys are that. So, easy peasy, but I am wondering that when a guy gets hurt by a girl, he grows a beard and hits the bottle and gets to sing a song with his nose running. What about us girls......
These days in the name of realistic, they allow nose running and actual puking quite often. Gay sex scenes and other sex scenes are stretched with camera darting close to mouth (don't ask which), while loud slurpy kissing sounds are the order of the day.
Meanwhile the girl's engineering seat is just a one day celebration. Yes, a percentage of girls and boys can get digressed by the glamour of hostel life and may get addicted, but it seriously offended me.
That she was able to pull a fast one on both the guys for that long a time, also fascinated me. She takes an I Phone as a gift from a boy she barely knows and shakes hands with him as best friend. Good build up. Viraj is pretty and very fallable and gets the girl and Anand gets to be realistic, with nose running and such and also one sad song, while he drinks and drives and his hair grows thick and black and curly. Envy of the day.
And Samuthirakani, director of Bro, a wonderful performer, directs this film, but there is a quote somewhere saying had he directed the film, it would have been different. Wish we had seen that version. Because this here is a tiresome version of Pavan Kalyan, all loose jointed, all glued-tongue-to-roof-of-pallet kind of talk, with his nephew Sai Tej, who is equally blousy with a bad attitude. Mother loves him and serves him idlis everyday morning while the sisters fear him and yet are having roaring affairs. When do the girls study and go on to become empowering women?
The hero gets 90 days to sort out his life in what is considered as a humorous passage of time. Agh!!! By the end of it, I was so tired of rolling my eyes, I had to take a nap. Old popular songs of PK and him trying to keep pace with them now and girls looking blanched and withering to fiery and teary.
The ending was the best. Wonder how they managed it so sensibly?
In utter contrast, am watching Dharavi Bank on MX Player. Sunil Shetty is trying hard to be back with his big face and tiny eyes in white veshti and white shirt. And Vikram Oberoi, has grown a paunch, while his biceps bulge within his shirt sleeve.  on MX Player. But must appreciate the camera work. Here they take it to the nooks and cranies of Dharavi and I don't think it is a set. Top shots, drone shots, some of them are awe inspiring, when it runs behind dark lanes to enter another dark labyrinth..... Interesting....
