CHOPPY WATERS AND CROWDED BOATS
After lunch at Le Speca at the crowded cafe, we returned to the B & B for a bit of rest. Murali was to give us a treat for his birthday but he was tired, with a slight body ache. Matina got a mild heat stroke and I was too excited by the fact that there was a supermarket outside our flats. I should have asked for a job for a couple of hours, considering I went there thrice in three hours. They had chopped vegetables, superb looking fruits, including a huge watermelon called angoori. Their varieties of milk, cream, cheese, yoghurts were a wonderful sight. Their varieties of cookies, juices and all things nice were also a pleasure to look at.
We had carried some premix food and so had some rice and spicy curry. Woke up the tongue nicely. And then Bruno ordered a handmade pizza with mushrooms and a truffle sauce. It was delicious. My first ever experience of truffles. Very nice in sauce form. I really don't care much for mushrooms and that family and am quite fussy when people cook it or order it. But here I do tKe a bit Or two or when it is in sauce form.
And then there was some mousse. It was Murali's birthday after all. We all sang the mandatory song and ate it all.
Today morning after a decent breakfast of grapes and salty foccacia bread, we headed towards the La Speca port from where we took a boat to three ports.
It was full by the time we reached with 12 minutes to spare. All the top seats open to sun were full, all the seats at the bottom were full. We found some place to sit, but photos were a tad difficult. Matina, clambered on top of the seats with an athlecity, taking all the Europeans by surprise too. We were the only four Indians on this entire boat trip.
We finally got off at Monterosso, which is also an UNESCO site. We all got off the boat and those in large groups got under their little flags and marched in gangs after listening to the instructions. Our group of six also followed in a line. All the cafes and restaurants were full. They were also facing the Liguran Sea, off the Mediterranean Sea. The Europeans were ready get tanned on a small beach here, under colourful umbrellas and equally attractive bikinis. They flourish under the sun and go back looking ripe and tanned.
Matina finally found a little cafe, but we had to sit behind in shade. No complains because the food was delish and we experimented. We live and learn. After much ribbing Murali did give us a treat.
Our return was at 4 pm, but we decided to take an earlier one. The top was full, the bottom was full, but we managed some seats and travelled back comfortably.
