FILMS SEEN AND FILMS YET TO BE SEEN....

There is an overdose of films/TV shows, at least in my life. Murali and I watch a movie in the evening once he returns from office, you know the usual dinner in front of the TV. I thought one meal a day on the table is enough for a married couple. Luckily for me, M does not like to watch language shows and movies and so I end up watching these when I am free. And hence the glut of visual media. Mind you, I am not complaining, but when you doze off when somebody is murdering someone violently on screen means there is an overdose.

And so I saw Jana Gana Mana in Malayalam, known differently in other languages. Main reason being Prithviraj, who is a great performer. I had not heard of the film and I seemed to have caught it on the day it was launched on the OTT. All the while I was reminded of incidents which had taken place in Warangal, outskirts of Hyderabad city and the ACP was incidentally called Sajan. There is an encounter of four 😏men, to boot. And the court scenes, as usual are over the top, with the advocate literally holding a class for an organised crowd, including the judge.

The only small twist I appreciated in the film is that you really do not know if Prithviraj is a good guy or bad guy. And you oscillate in your mind and that is quite a bit of involvement from a viewer.

Also watched Katuvakula Rendu Kadal, a Vijay Setupathi, Samantha and Nayanthara starrer, directed by Vignesh, whom Nayanthara is marrying very soon. Under the genre of comedy, it is one by a very long stretch. Too much of an effort, though there are these very cute scenes when the two women try to get the hero's attention. And just because he announces that he is a rounded figure, Setupathi is blousy through out the film. But, considering I love his eyes!!! Telugu films started the concept of the hero having two heroines. The hero here is in love with two heroines and is also wondering how he can tie the thaali on both of them simultaneously because he does not want to hurt either of them. Therein lies your tragedy of a comedy.

Saw 12th Man and see it only for the scenery. Mohanlal shouts so much in this film you have to necessarily reduce the volume of the TV. Why should you watch a film to see nature? But having said that do watch Birdman of Alcatraz and you come away with a smile. That is what tweets will do to you. A 1962 film, Burt Lancaster is so good looking and though a slow movie, it leaves you feeling like wanting to whistle a tune.

Have seen a lot more but I am not remembering names and they all run into one another and till I have seen a bit I do not recall.....Glut, glut....
